Well, it’s been a long time coming but it was a lot of work too! I hope you enjoy our first ever all hybrid episode!!!
In this episode, we create the layout shown here from start to finish - 1/2 in photoshop, 1/2 with real paper and scissors and stuff!!

We use the following digital products:
And a whole bunch of paper products, including:
- Bazzill Cardstock
- Scenic Paper Route Patterned Paper
- Heidi Swapp Embellishments
- Stampin’ Up Large Stamp
And I’m feeling generous! So, the first 5 people to email me with a link to somewhere they told their friends about this episode of DSTV will get my whole collection of photo grid templates for free!!!!
Enjoy the episode! And don’t forget to come back and show me a layout you made because of this podcast!
Please note that this episode is well over 200 MB large. Instead of watching in the embedded player (which can take a long long time to load) I suggest right-clicking on the download link and choosing “Save Target As…” and saving the file to your computer so you can watch it after it’s finished downloading.
And here’s a hybrid layout Nikki Beaudreau created using the same techniques!

Congrats Jen! You won a copy of the Tumasoft Preset Viewer!!! I will shoot you an email telling you how to claim your prize!
22 Jan 2008
UPDATE: If you downloaded prior to 9:35 EST on 1/23/08 please try again, I had the wrong filename… that’s what I get for uploading at midnight… sorry!
Episode 3 is finally here and there’s a huge contest attached (although I forgot to mention it in the video so be sure to read the rest of this post to find out how to enter).
This week we have 2 fun, quick, and easy tutorials followed by an interview with Betsy Tuma about the software she created with her husband called Preset Viewer - in my opinion, it’s a must have for digital scrapbookers!
The tutorials in this episode are:
- Blending a photo into your background paper - a really cool effect to add a wow factor to your layout and really customize your papers!
- Fixing a photo that suffers from both under and over exposure - yikes! It’s all about the balancing baby
Oh, and did I mention a contest? Yup, all you have to do is leave me a comment here on this post and tell me what you thought about this episode. I will randomly pick one commenter to win a free copy of Tumasoft’s Preset Viewer! A $49.95 value!!! The cutoff date for the comments is January 30, 11:59PM EST and I will announce the winner right here on the blog!
If you don’t happen to be the lucky winner of free software, you can still get yourself a copy for an incredible bargain. Betsy is offering 25% off the normal price of Preset Viewer to DSTV viewers! That is the lowest price you’ve ever been able to get it at. All you have to do is click this link to Betsy’s store Plain Digital Wrapper, and enter coupon code DSTV25 when you check out. The coupon also works at Scrapbook Graphics just to give you some options.
(I recommend saving the podcast to your computer by right-clicking on the download link and choosing “Save Target As” or “Save Link As” rather than watching it live)

Thanks Disc Talk Radio for putting Digital Scrapbooking TV in the spotlight!! You all know I just love you to pieces and I’m thrilled for your support!
While I’m here, I wanted to give you a quick update. I probably won’t get another episode up until after the holidays because I’m about to take off for 2 weeks and have a lot to do before I leave. So I’ll see you back after the new year!
27 Nov 2007
Sorry about the delay getting episode 2 up. I’ve had the content done I just didn’t have time to sit down and piece it all together. Those darn holidays!
On with the good stuff! This week we have three great tutorials, and I announce the winner of the contest I introduced in the last episode! The tutorials include:
- Creating a sketch template using the grid and marquee tools. Ever wanted to have equally spaced or sized pictures? This tutorial is for you!
- More portrait retouching: Removing (or at least decreasing) shadows on the face.
- Recoloring elements! This one has been requested a lot and thus, we have not one, but two different methods of recoloring in this episode!
Alright enough chatting, on with the episode!

Here we are, finally… episode one of Digital Scrapbooking TV. Now I have to warn you, this episode went a little long… Longer than I am planning on most episodes being… I learned something about myself… I’m a talker… heheh See I really want to teach you all everything I know so I’m kinda detailed in my explanations. I’ll try to get better… Since the video is so long, it’s a little over 80MB, if you click the button on the player to watch online, it will probably take a long time to load. So I highly recommend clicking on the Download link and choosing “Save Target As…” or “Save Link As…” Then you can watch it whenever you want on your computer.
I also wanted to note that I am leaving for Mexico in the morning so unfortunately, if there are any technical difficulties, I will not be around to answer your questions for at least a week. But please feel free to post any questions you have on the forums and the Creative Team gals will try to answer as best they can.
Now, onto the episode. We start out with a makeover tutorial, showing you how to quickly fix up your portraits for a natural looking virtual facelift. Then, watch me as I hang out with Hollie (of Holliewood Studios) and Sue (aka Simonetti Rossi). Hollie has an awesome tutorial on weaving ribbons in and out of alphas and Sue introduces us to the pattern overlay features of Photoshop. Lastly, I show you yet another way to do Hollie’s ribbon weaving technique using Layer Masks. I love that there are so many different ways of doing things in Photoshop so I thought it would be cool to show that off.
A few show notes.
- For Hollie’s ribbon weaving technique we used her Wish Upon A Star Kit and her Kraft Paper Alpha. Don’t forget to grab that coupon code she mentions in the video to save on her store all month long!
- The paper pack Sue made with the patterns she showed in her tutorial will be available November 5th. Her coupon code is good until January 30, 2008!!! Check out her store at Sophia Sarducci here.
- CT gal Nikki B found a site with a free action for using layer masks in PSE. The tools are called Grant’s Tools and you can find those here.
- All the way at the end of the video you will see mention of a contest, here are the details again:
- Create a layout using a technique you learned in this video
- Post it in a public gallery
- Make sure that in your description, you mention that you learned the technique here at www.digitalscrapbookingtv.com
- E-mail a link to the layout to contest at digitalscrapbooking tv dot com
- Deadline is November 14, 2007 at 11:59PM EST
- The random winner will receive $10 gift cards for Shawna Clingerman, Kate Hadfield, and myself, Jen Caputo!
Alright, I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! I recommend clicking the download link and saving to your hard drive (or better yet, grab the rss feed and put it into your podcast organizer so it will automatically download the new episodes as they become available).
Edited to add: if you are having trouble viewing the video, please make sure you are downloading it to your own computer and that you have Quicktime 7 installed.

Well everyone, I can’t tell you how excited I am for the big premiere on Saturday! I thought I would post a little bit about podcasting for those of you who may be new to it to make sure you all get the most out of this that you can.
First off, of course you can watch the episodes on line! You can even click the download button and grab them and save them on your computer forever (recommended over watching online)! But I personally am a huge fan of watching podcasts on my media player. Most people use a video iPod, or an iPhone, but I am in LOVE with my Creative Zen Vision Widescreen
. I download all of my favorite podcasts on this guy while I’m travelling or getting ready for bed. Whatever player you may use (even if it’s the quicktime player on your computer), you are going to want to get the newest episodes as soon as they are available! That’s where RSS feeds come in. If you look over to the right you will see a whole bunch of different ways to subscribe. I recommend getting an aggregator that will download video and audio podcasts for you. Some examples are iTunes, ZenCast (the one I use), or podnova. Whichever one you want, you are going to need to tell it the url of the rss feed. You can do that by clicking on the links in the Subscribe box, or by pasting this link in directly: http://digitalscrapbookingtv.com/?feed=podcast
Once you are subscribed, the new episodes of Digital Scrapbooking TV will be automatically downloaded to your computer when they are posted so you never have to worry about missing one!
If you plan on watching them on your computer, make sure you have Quicktime installed!
Well that’s it for now, see ya on Digital Scrapbooking Day!!!
22 Oct 2007
That the first episode of Digital Scrapbooking TV will begin airing on Digital Scrapbooking Day (November 3rd). Tell all of your friends to be ready!!!!

This is another tutorial that I posted on my blog a few months ago. Look for the real episodes of Digital Scrapbooking TV to start appearing very soon! I recommend downloading these instead of watching them on the player below.

Here is a tutorial I posted on my blog a few months ago that you can watch as you wait for Digital Scrapbooking TV to premiere. The low-quality of this episode is not indicative of the quality you can expect from the real episodes!
